The speakership race in Kasamgombe Sub-county

The race for the speakership of Kasamgombe Sub-county was dominated by women leaders as councillors elected new council leaders shortly after the swearing-in ceremony held at the sub-county headquarters.

In a highly competitive contest, Nakiranda emerged victorious as the new Speaker of Kasamgombe Sub-county after defeating Musuga by a narrow margin of 9 votes to 8. The closely contested race kept councillors and supporters in suspense until the final tally was announced.

Nakiranda’s victory was welcomed with excitement from her supporters, who described her as a committed and visionary leader capable of steering the council towards unity and development. In her acceptance remarks, she pledged to work hand in hand with all councillors regardless of political differences in order to promote service delivery and development within the sub-county.

The momentum of women leadership continued in the race for Deputy Speaker where Nusufa Mulindwa also secured victory against Cissy. Mulindwa garnered 9 votes while Cissy received 7 votes in another tightly contested election.

Speaking after her election, Mulindwa thanked councillors for entrusting her with the responsibility and promised to uphold teamwork, transparency, and cooperation in council business.

The elections followed the official swearing-in ceremony of newly elected councillors, marking the beginning of a new leadership term at Kasamgombe Sub-county. Leaders and residents expressed optimism that the newly elected council leadership will focus on improving infrastructure, service delivery, and community development across the sub-county.
