Minister Kabuye Launches Construction of Mega Luweero Coffee Park as Nakaseke Celebrates Landmark Agro-Industrial Investment

Nakaseke District is celebrating a historic milestone following the official launch of the construction of the Luweero Coffee Park by Minister Kabuye, a transformative agro-industrial project expected to become the largest value addition facility for coffee, cocoa, milk, and meat in East and Central Africa.

The multi-billion-shilling project, which will occupy 100 acres, is expected to be completed by 2028 and will serve as a major processing and export hub for agricultural products destined for the Middle East market and other international destinations. The investment is expected to significantly boost Uganda's value addition agenda while creating employment opportunities and increasing household incomes across the Greater Luweero region.

Launching the project, Minister Kabuye described the Coffee Park as a game-changing investment that will transform the livelihoods of farmers by providing a ready market and increasing the value of agricultural produce.

He called upon farmers in Nakaseke District to embrace commercial coffee growing and improve their coffee farming practices to maximize production and quality ahead of the project's completion.

"This project presents a golden opportunity for our farmers to create wealth. I urge every farmer to invest in coffee production, adopt improved farming practices, and prepare to benefit from the enormous market that this Coffee Park will provide," Minister Kabuye emphasized.

The Minister noted that with growing demand from the Middle East and other export markets, farmers who produce high-quality coffee and other agricultural commodities will be well-positioned to earn better incomes and improve their standards of living.

Beyond coffee, the park will add value to cocoa, milk, and meat products, reducing post-harvest losses, increasing competitiveness of Ugandan products on the global market, and strengthening agro-industrialization in line with the Government's economic transformation agenda.

District leaders welcomed the project as one of the most significant investments to be undertaken in the region, saying it will unlock the agricultural potential of Nakaseke and neighbouring districts while creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs for young people and local communities.

The launch of the Luweero Coffee Park marks a new chapter for Nakaseke District, reinforcing its position as an emerging centre for commercial agriculture and agro-industrial development. As construction gets underway, optimism is high that the project will transform the region into a leading hub for value addition, export trade, and sustainable wealth creation when it is completed in 2028.
